Wayfair, a Boston-based e-commerce company that specializes in home and office furnishings, signed a lease Wednesday, Feb. 17th for about 40,000 SF in former Navy Building 11 at 46 Burbank Ave. Wayfair expects to move into the building, which will be used as contact center for sales and customer support, by June and hire up to 500 workers. Building 11 is being sold by MRRA to Topsham-based developer Priority Real Estate Group, which is owned by Jim Howard, a Topsham native. The sale is expected to close within a month. Priority has been very active in the redevelopment project, having previously purchased several lots and buildings at Brunswick Landing. Priority built the new Sunray Animal Clinic building at 73 Admrial Fitch Ave. Additionally, Priority also owns the two buildings — 62 Pegasus Street and 16 Burbank Ave. — currently being used by the Providence Service Corporation, which employs more than 100 workers for its school for special needs students. Wayfair also plans to open a contact center in Bangor and plans to hire 450 employees.
