The former Navy Exchange and Retail building is located at 46 Burbank Avenue on the former Naval Air Station in Brunswick, now known as Brunswick Landing. The property was sold by Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority (MRRA) to Topsham based developer Priority Real Estate Group (Priority), which is owned by Jim Howard, a Topsham native. Wayfair, a $3B Boston based ecommerce company that specializes in home and office furnishings, signed a lease in early 2016 for approximately 42,500 square feet of the 50,000 square foot building located 46 Burbank Avenue. Cresa, a Boston based site location consulting firm hired by Wayfair, initially contacted Maine’s private business attraction group Maine & Company in the summer of 2015 in search of a location to support the company’s explosive growth. In addition to this redevelopment project in Brunswick, Wayfair also established a new location in Bangor, Maine that will also employ about 500 employees. The Brunswick building will eventually house about 500 new employees engaged in business to business sales, logistics support, and operations. By the end of 2016, Wayfair in Brunswick had hired 150 people.
